World Migratory Birds Day

11 May and 12 October 2019

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an annual campaign for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats and ultimately attention to environmental preservation.

This day is of particular importance because of the international event and people around the world take action and do public activities such as birdwatching, exhibitions, education programs on this day and celebrate WMBD. The main days for the international celebrations are on the second Saturday in May and October.

This day is followed by a subject every year; and this year the theme of World Migratory Bird Day is “Protect Birds: Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution!”

World Migratory Birds Day

Iran is unique because of its geographical location and therefore has a considerable diversity of birds with different geographic origins. On this day, as well as other countries, the Iranian people try to perform programs such as bird-watching meetings and go birdwatching too.

Obviously, holding such ceremonies could push Iran closer to protecting endangered migratory species. It is hoped that by organizing such days, the role of protective projects in Iran becomes even more significant. The Safe Area for Macqueen’s Bustard
