The World Migratory Bird Day in Iran

The World Migratory Bird Day is an international event that the importance of migratory birds has been emphasized to maintain the balance of the land, ecosystem, and human beings.

In order to increase global attention to the issue of the importance of migratory birds, since 2006, the African-Eurasian Water-Migrated Birds Agreements (AEWA) have been naming and hosting the International Day of Migratory Birds.

Each year, the theme of the International Day of Migratory Birds focuses on a specific purpose and title. For example, the theme of the World Migratory Birds Day in 2017 was: Their future is our future.

This year’s theme − “Protect Birds: Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution!” − will put the spotlight on the negative impact of plastic pollution on migratory birds and their habitats.

We celebrate World Migratory Bird Day by holding a meeting and bird-watching tours for this special day to show people and children how birds life is important. We wish to increase the level of awareness about the threats that birds are facing. The World Migratory Bird Day in Iran

With an annual production of more than 300m tons, plastic is one of the most widely used materials in the world. What often escapes one’s attention is that plastic is used for its main purpose for only a moment compared with its life cycle of 20 to 500 years. Lightweight and designed to last, the discarded pieces are easily transported into ecosystems through the forces of nature causing serious threats to migratory species around the world.
